One of the takeaways from the Civil Society Commission's work is that it is essential to continue valuing and recognising volunteers' contributions to civil society.

It is also apparent, speaking with charities, that recruiting & retaining volunteers has been more difficult since the pandemic.

In what ways do you think the profile of volunteering can be raised?

▶Working on longevity and success of corporate partnerships similar to what Crisis and Zoopla are doing to engage employees in the charity's mission

“Zoopla will bring their employees along on the journey by improving their awareness and understanding of the topic of homelessness. They will track their community programme’s performance against KPIs throughout the year and externally report these metrics within their annual ESG report.”

▶Education and accessibility of volunteering programmes and inspiring people to commit to projects or longer-term
▶Recognising the impact that volunteers have - through impact reporting, individual and group recognition, participation in advocation, fundraising and awareness across social media as well as offline communities
▶Developing a clear & compelling volunteering offer - a clear role description, policies and guidance pack
