Dear Customer,
I am writing to inform you of the upcoming single-use plastics ban coming into effect in October 2023, the impact this will have on your business and the support we have available for you.
From the 1st October 2023, businesses in England will no longer be able to sell, supply or offer certain single-use plastic items. These include single-use plastic cutlery (as well as PLA) and all EPS plates, trays, bowls, cups and food containers.
The ban on these items will include online and over-the-counter sales and supply, from new and existing stock.
This will mean that if your business stocks any of the single-use items listed above, you will no longer be able to sell, supply or offer them, and will need to start stocking alternative options. If you continue supplying banned single-use plastics after the 1st October, you could incur a fine.
In order to help make this transition as easy as possible, our expert team at Catering Supplies has put together a range of support tools, which highlight the alternative and innovative solutions we have available for you. These include a dedicated webpage, a ‘Plastic Ban’ guide and a series of blogs. We also removed all EPS products from our disposables range last year.
To find out more about the single-use plastics ban and to access our range of support, please visit: www.bidfood.co.uk/single-use-plastics-ban-2023/
We will also be launching a legislative support webpage soon where you can easily access all the information, advice and support you need for current and upcoming legislation, in one place.
If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact your Account Manager in the first instance and as ever, we thank you for your valued business and continued support.
Kind regards,
Andrew Dorney
